South Africa WTC Final Squad: Rabada to Lead Pace Attack

South Africa have announced their squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, with Kagiso Rabada returning to spearhead the bowling unit. The South Africa WTC final squad blends seasoned players with promising talent, aiming for a strong finish at Lord’s.

Rabada Back to Boost South Africa’s Bowling Firepower

Kagiso Rabada, cleared after serving a one-month suspension, will headline a six-man pace attack. Although available for Gujarat Titans in the IPL on May 6, he was not selected. Rabada now rejoins the South Africa WTC final squad alongside Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, Dane Paterson, Wiaan Mulder, and Corbin Bosch. Paterson impressed in England, while Bosch earned his place after a solid home series.

Spin Department Strengthened for Lord’s Conditions

Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy form the spin duo. Muthusamy hasn’t featured since October but remains a dependable option. Coach Shukri Conrad emphasized selecting players based on recent form and fitness. According to him, the squad’s balance makes it competitive against a strong Australian side.

Top-Order Decisions Await Match Conditions

Temba Bavuma, now fully fit, will captain the side and bat at No.4. Ryan Rickelton is set to open alongside Aiden Markram. Tony de Zorzi could bat at No.3 or in the middle order, depending on pitch conditions. While Tristan Stubbs started at No.3 recently, he might shift down. David Bedingham, recovering from a toe injury, could return if match-ready. His aggressive style suits the Australian challenge.

Verreynne Keeps the Gloves; IPL Players to Return Soon

Kyle Verreynne remains first-choice wicketkeeper and has been in fine form for Nottinghamshire. South Africa’s IPL players—Rabada, Markram, Stubbs, Jansen, and others—will return by May 26 before flying to England on May 30. They will face Zimbabwe in a warm-up match starting June 3.
