The Shreyas Iyer India A captaincy announcement has added excitement ahead of the Australia A tour. A 15-member squad has been named for two multi-day games in Lucknow later this month. Moreover, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed the England tour due to a knee injury, has made his return.
Shreyas Iyer India A Captaincy and Test Comeback
With Shreyas Iyer leading India A, the matches against Australia A are crucial for his red-ball comeback. His last Test appearance came in February 2024 against England in Visakhapatnam. Therefore, the upcoming series gives him a platform to push for a place in the West Indies Test series starting October 2. In addition, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s return adds balance and much-needed depth to the squad.
Senior Names in India A Squad
The India A squad for Australia A series also features senior stars. KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will join the squad for the second match. Furthermore, other experienced names such as Prasidh Krishna, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, and N Jagadeesan bring solidity to the team. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who recently recovered from injury, has been appointed vice-captain.
