Cummins became only the eighth Australian bowler to achieve this milestone. Furthermore, for the first time in Test history, three bowlers with 300 or more wickets—Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon—featured in a single playing XI. Lord’s Spell That Made History
On the first evening, Cummins removed Wiaan Mulder. However, day two brought his real magic. He removed Bavuma before lunch and then took four wickets in a post-lunch burst that read 4.1-1-4-4. Verreynne, Jansen, Bedingham, and Rabada fell in quick succession. Consequently, South Africa collapsed.
Importantly, Pat Cummins 300th Test wicket came when Rabada was caught brilliantly at deep square-leg. By that moment, Cummins had recorded the fourth-best strike rate for any bowler with 300 Test wickets—behind legends like Steyn and Waqar Younis.
