India Women Set for World Cup with Training Camp in Visakhapatnam
India Women World Cup preparation begins with a week-long training camp in Visakhapatnam from August 25. The sessions will help the squad adapt to conditions at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, where India face South Africa and Australia in two crucial group-stage matches.
Importance of the Visakhapatnam Training Camp
Visakhapatnam was chosen with strategy in mind. Only Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Sneh Rana have played at this ground before, back in 2014. The camp offers valuable exposure for the rest of the team. During this India Women World Cup preparation, the focus remains on reading local pitches and building confidence ahead of tough fixtures.
Key Matches Scheduled in Visakhapatnam
India Women meet South Africa on October 9 and then face Australia on October 12. Both clashes carry huge importance because the opponents are among the strongest in the tournament. Concerns have been raised about India’s limited experience at Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, and Indore, making this India Women World Cup preparation vital for success.

Change of Venue for Training Sessions
The training camp was originally set for Bengaluru. However, police clearance for the M Chinnaswamy Stadium did not come through, so the board shifted the venue to Visakhapatnam. At the same time, Navi Mumbai joined the World Cup schedule. Since players have often competed there in the Women’s Premier League and in international games, they already enjoy familiarity with that ground.
Full Squad Participation and Practice Matches
The World Cup squad, reserves, and India A players will attend this camp. Two intra-squad day-night games will complete the week’s program. These contests will act as the final step of India Women World Cup preparation before the ODI series against Australia begins on September 16 in New Chandigarh.
Road Ahead for India Women
After the Australia ODIs, the squad moves to Bengaluru for two official warm-ups against England on September 25 and New Zealand on September 27. Their campaign starts on September 30 against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. With focused training, match simulations, and competitive practice, the India Women World Cup preparation appears structured and promising.
