Maxwell’s Frustration Costs Him in High-Scoring PBKS vs CSK Match

Glenn Maxwell has come under scrutiny after breaching the IPL code of conduct during Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. The all-rounder was fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point. This disciplinary action was a result of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, which relates to the abuse of fixtures and fittings on the field. Although the IPL has not disclosed exact details, Maxwell accepted the sanction and admitted guilt.

Maxwell’s Struggles in IPL 2025 Continue

Glenn Maxwell’s performance this season has been far from his best. In the latest match against CSK, he was dismissed for a two-ball duck, caught and bowled by R Ashwin. While his batting didn’t contribute much, he did manage to take the key wicket of Rachin Ravindra during CSK’s innings.

Despite Maxwell’s underwhelming form, PBKS posted a massive total of 219 for 6. This was largely thanks to Priyansh Arya, who smashed a sensational 103 off 42 balls, along with unbeaten cameos from Shashank Singh (52 off 35) and Marco Jansen (34 off 19). Their efforts powered PBKS to a crucial 18-run win, keeping them firmly in the race for the playoffs.

PBKS Eyes Stronger Momentum

So far, Punjab Kings have won three out of their four matches in IPL 2025. Glenn Maxwell has contributed with the ball, taking three wickets across these games, but he is yet to make a significant impact with the bat. His inconsistency remains a concern for the team.

Looking ahead, PBKS will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next fixture. The team hopes to continue its strong form and climb higher in the points table.
