The next in the line-up to set North American cricket ablaze, right after the global T20 cricket Worldcup, will be GT20 Canada 2024. Group stage actions will kick off on July 25 from Brampton in Ontario, and end on the 11th of August.
Canada Cricket League is aimed at popularizing the game of cricket and building a robust cricketing structure in North America, providing an opportunity for local and international players to play their game against the best competitions.
GT20 Canada has made its mark on the Canadian, North American, and international cricket calendar as one of the most highly anticipated dates by showcasing the growth of the game, especially with Canada making its first-ever appearance at the ICC T20 World Cup currently underway and the outstanding performances turned in by homegrown cricketing talent.
A number of world-class players will compete along with cream talent from what many would argue is currently the most dynamic cricket scene in North America.
This will feature the participation of Australian cricket legends David Warner and Marcus Stoinis, Pakistan stars Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, Caribbean standouts Sunil Narine and Carlos Brathwaite, Bangladeshi legend Shakib Al Hasan, and Afghan duo Mohammad Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq, who have tasted different levels of success in the game globally.
According to Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah, the brain behind GT20 Canada, the league contributed a lot towards the growth and development of cricket in Canada and, by extension, North America.
The captain of the Canadian national team, Saad Bin Zafar, will compete in the next GT20 Canada competition. Aaron Johnson, who recently created history by becoming “the first player to score a half-century on the challenging New York pitch during the ICC T20 World Cup,” and Nicholas Kirton, the team’s top run scorer, will also be playing.
The GT20 Canada, widely regarded as North America’s top cricket league, will also feature Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh Baddhan. Gous was the highest run-scorer at the World Cup, while Baddhan played a crucial role in the United States’ unforgettable ICC T20 World Cup campaign.
