England’s Openers Blaze Away After India’s Collapse

The England vs India 5th Test Day 2 turned into a batting spectacle after a dominant performance by the English openers. Following India’s collapse, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett took the attack to the bowlers, shifting the momentum entirely in England’s favour before lunch.

Crawley stands tall at the Oval

Zak Crawley continued his stellar form in the series with yet another rapid fifty. He reached the milestone in just 42 deliveries, displaying total control against both pace and spin. His driving was a delight to watch, with three lofted boundaries over the infield and a flurry of cover drives.

Crawley’s approach was assertive but measured. He punished anything short or wide and found gaps with precision. This knock marked his third fifty of the series and underlined why he’s been one of England’s key batters throughout the summer.

Duckett adds firepower early on

At the other end, Ben Duckett ensured the pressure remained on India. He smashed two sixes in the first few overs, including a stylish reverse scoop. His quickfire 43 set the tone early, unsettling the bowlers and field placements alike.

Duckett fell while trying to clear the ropes again, but by then, the damage had been done. The 92-run opening stand came in just 77 balls, giving England a flying start and bringing the deficit down quickly.

England take charge by lunch

At the lunch break, England were 109 for 1, just 115 runs behind India. The England vs India 5th Test Day 2 was dominated by clean, confident batting. With Crawley still at the crease and Ollie Pope joining him, England are in a commanding position heading into the next session.
