Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar played pivotal roles as India leveled the T20I series against Australia with a convincing five-wicket victory in Hobart. Despite Tim David’s explosive 74 off 38 balls, India’s all-round display ensured the series now stands at 1-1.

Arshdeep Singh Stars with the Ball

In the India vs Australia 2nd T20I, Arshdeep Singh delivered a Player-of-the-Match performance, claiming 3 for 35. His early breakthroughs removed Travis Head and Josh Inglis before dismissing Marcus Stoinis for a well-made 64. With Varun Chakravarthy adding two wickets and Jasprit Bumrah maintaining tight lines, Australia were restricted to 186 for 6 despite David’s fireworks.

The early overs saw Arshdeep Singh exploit swing beautifully, troubling top-order batters with precision. His ability to strike at crucial moments helped India maintain control even as David counterattacked with brute force.

Washington Sundar’s Calm Finish

During the chase, Washington Sundar displayed composure under pressure. Coming in at No. 6, he guided India home with a blistering 49 not out off 23 balls, his second-highest T20I score. Alongside Jitesh Sharma, who struck a valuable 22 off 13, Washington ensured India reached 188 for 5 with nine balls remaining.

Even though India lost Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill early, contributions across the top order kept the momentum steady. The partnership between Washington and Jitesh sealed the result, with both clearing the ropes confidently in the final overs.

Tim David’s Explosive Effort in Vain

For Australia, Tim David’s 74 off 38 deliveries was a standout effort. Walking in after early wickets, he countered India’s bowling with powerful strokes and quick scoring. His 59-run stand with Stoinis gave the hosts hope, but late wickets and tight death bowling from Bumrah and Arshdeep ensured India stayed on top.

Despite David’s efforts, India’s composed chase and sharp execution proved decisive. With the win, India leveled the T20I series against Australia, setting up an exciting contest in the remaining matches.
