Day two of the Australia vs West Indies Test Grenada 2025 ended with pressure mounting on the visitors. Jayden Seales dismissed both Australian openers late in the day, after Brandon King led the West Indies fightback with a stylish 75. Australia now lead by just 45 runs, holding a fragile 12 for 2 at stumps.

King’s Fifty and Lower Order Rally Keep West Indies in the Game

West Indies managed to reduce the first-innings deficit to only 33. Brandon King, in top form, smashed his maiden Test fifty and controlled the innings. Alzarri and Shamar Joseph then provided crucial runs down the order. Their 51-run stand shifted momentum and exposed cracks in Australia’s bowling attack.

Earlier, Pat Cummins took a sensational caught-and-bowled to remove Keacy Carty, while Nathan Lyon picked up three wickets with steady control. However, as the ball softened, batting became more comfortable, despite uneven bounce throughout the innings.

Australia’s Top Order Crumbles Under Pressure

Jayden Seales came charging in with fire and accuracy. Sam Konstas fell early, dragging a shot onto his stumps. Usman Khawaja followed soon after, trapped lbw by a delivery from around the wicket. Cameron Green and nightwatcher Nathan Lyon survived the closing minutes, but Australia’s top order looked rattled.

Hope and King Threaten, but Cummins Answers Back

King’s partnership with Shai Hope added 58 valuable runs. He pulled Hazlewood for a six and reached fifty with a powerful stroke over midwicket. The duo played confidently against spin and pace alike. However, Cummins broke the stand with a delivery that beat Hope’s inside edge and shattered the stumps.

In the next over, Lyon’s bounce got King gloving down the leg side. The on-field call was overturned on review, leaving Australia in control again—briefly.

Final Overs Give West Indies a Boost

Justin Greaves fell cheaply, but the Josephs counter-attacked with intent. They blunted Australia’s quicks and narrowed the gap before the final two wickets fell. Lyon thought he had wrapped up the innings earlier, but a DRS review saved Phillip.
