Rain Forecast for KKR vs RCB Clash at Eden Gardens

The much-anticipated  KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 season opener faces uncertainty as rain threatens to disrupt the game at Eden Gardens. Despite periods of sunshine around mid-day, Kolkata continues to experience overcast conditions with intermittent showers. Weather predictions indicate rain throughout the day, including match hours, raising concerns about a potential delay or a reduced-overs encounter.

Indian Met Department Issues “Orange Alert”

The Indian Meteorological Department has placed Gangetic West Bengal under an “orange alert”, highlighting the possibility of heavy rain. The city has already witnessed persistent showers in the past few days, which have impacted team preparations. Training sessions for both Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were cut short on Friday due to wet conditions. Additionally, a practice match involving KKR earlier in the week had to be abandoned after just one innings.

IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony and Match Timings

Before the toss at 7 PM, a grand IPL 2025 opening ceremony is scheduled to take place. If rain disrupts the game, the league’s extended time allowance provides flexibility, ensuring a minimum of a five-overs-a-side match by midnight. If no result is possible, both teams will receive one point each.

Upcoming Fixtures for KKR and RCB

Following the season opener, defending champions KKR will travel to Guwahati to face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 26. Meanwhile, RCB will head to Chennai for a clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 28.

As fans eagerly await the first match of IPL 2025, all eyes remain on the weather, hoping for a full game despite the looming rain threat.
