The final of the National Men’s T20 Championship at Batsman Park A, Brampton, on August 23, 2024: In a closely followed duel, Ontario trounced British Columbia by 7 wickets, lifting gusto high in the house to gain the silverware of this marvelous tournament with an epic conclusion.

The inning was, however, a tough one, as British Columbia got 107 runs and lost 9 wickets during the allotted 20 overs.

Meanwhile, Gill continued to stand his ground for most of British Columbia by collecting 29 runs off just 18 balls he faced, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Uday Bhagwan Singh was steady at the other end with 22 runs slow in 27 balls, striking 2 fours. British Columbia batted against a disciplined attack of bowlers from Ontario.

Bowlers of Ontario got on soon enough. Gurjot Gosal (Jr) was excellent, with four wickets for just 14 runs from his 4 overs, well supported by Meet Patel, who had a hand with 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 4-over spell. The significant breakthroughs were when Jaskaran Buttar got Ajayveer Singh out on the second ball of the initial over and the one-handed catch of Meet Patel in the covers to send Mansab Gill in the 5th.

With a modest target set, Ontario got into the middle to chase it. They achieved the total rather quite comfortably by scoring 108 losing only 3 wickets in 18.1 overs.

Ali Nadeem was just there to hold the innings together. Yuvraj Samra was the lynchpin for them in their chase, and he got going with a very important 46 off 43 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 2 maximums. Meet Patel was the man with a striking day, and he ended the game with a brisk 20 not out off 15 balls, including 1 four and 1 maximum.

The bowlers of the Brampton Wolves showed a lot of spirit, with Sukhjinder Singh and Newab Singh each getting 1 wicket and conceding 13 and 17 runs, respectively, in 4-over spells. But Ontario had calculated their innings well and secured the championship quite easily.

That was clearly the case after the final whistle, with the Ontario side and their fans beside themselves for this victory. Quite an excellent tournament, the final of the 2024 National Men’s T20 Championship could not have been played to the very best of ability and thrilling cricket. It is a great applause to Ontario for the win that was well merited, and a lot of kudos for the effort that the two sides have put in through the competition.
